Jefferson C-123 Carolers will be singing for nursing homes this Friday

Students at one Missouri school will be going on a nursing home caroling tour.

Music students at Jefferson Junior High and High School, in Conception Junction, will be making four nursing home stops this Friday to give a half an hour concert at each place.

Music teacher, Cecily Lanier, says she's been doing this for seven years.

"Ever since I've been a teacher, I've always tried to do outreach things of this sort and get the kids out where they are a little out of their comfort zone.  But it gives them a chance to interact with older generations."

She says some of her students have aunts, uncles, and grandparents at the nursing homes, so it's a chance to show-off to their relatives.  She also says it's an emotional experience for some of the nursing home residents.

"When the people come and see them sing, they are just smiling.  We've had people actually start to tear up a little bit, like when the girls were singing 'Danny Boy' when we went out earlier this year.  They just love to interact with students afterwards, too."
